| Thirty-two Ptarmigans and friends enjoyed great spring-like
skiing, camaraderie, and the ambiance of Stratton Village the last weekend
of February, 2000. Saturday skiing was followed by a party in the
outdoor heated pool and then a happy hour in the lodge. On Sunday,
more than half went on a side trip to Okemo Mountain and wondered why as
they arrived to find thick fog engulfing the lower half of the mountain.
(It was sunny at Stratton at 8:00 AM) However, the top half of Okemo
was sunny all day and provided a spectacular view of surrounding mountain
tops poking through the pillowy blanket. On Monday, Stratton's conditions
were extremely varied from top to bottom. Many of the group left
the slopes early to relax with lunch and a few drinks at Grizzly's which
overlooks the terrain park. They were treated to a show of acrobatics
through the jumps & half-pipe by the last 4 die-hard Ptarmigans on
the slopes.
Ptarmigan trips always have memorable moments. This
trip was no exception. Like Shawn Tamandal lying nearly naked in
the snow waiting to have his picture taken with a camera that had no film
in it. Or when Joe Benko and Ron Kern, acting like polar bears, took
a dip in the ice-water of the frozen "cement pond". Who could forget
those pool parties with open bar? Watch for some photos coming soon
to the website. |
